Proposed Bill Would Provide Relief to Family Caregivers

There are approximately 48 million family caregivers in America. These hard-working people often spend thousands of dollars of their own money to assist their loved ones, while also holding their own jobs.

Introduced on May 18, the proposed Credit for Caring Act would provide direct relief for many of these caregivers.

The bill would provide up to $5,000 federal tax credit for eligible working family caregivers. To put it into perspective, many families spend nearly $7,000 each year in out-of-pocket caring costs.

AARP is one of the organizations that is working to raise awareness and urge Congress to pass the Credit for Caring Act. If you're interested in sending a message to your Senator and Representative, they have made it easy to do so here.
