If you or a loved one are prone to acute psychiatric crises and live in Contra Costa County, there is now an alternative to dialing 911 and risking the dreaded “5150 Call” and subsequent involuntary hospitalization. The Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) is a task force comprising licensed mental health clinicians, community and family support workers and a family nurse practitioner employed by Contra Costa Behavioral Health Services (BHS). MCRT provides same-day intervention to de-escalate a mental health crises and provide the client with mental health resources. If the situation is escalating call 1-833-443-2672.
Of course, YOU SHOULD CALL 911 when an individual is:
- Attempting to commit suicide
- Physically assaulting someone
- Threating with a weapon
- Having a medical emergency
